South Shore Beaches

The South Shore of Long Island is the area along the island's shoreline to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a very diverse area in terms of income and culture, and is home to the globally-renowned seaside Hampton resort, nestled on Long Island's South Fork. The beaches on Long Island's South Shore get a great amount of sunlight. Many of them are still the natural habitat of the endangered piping plover. South Shore beaches offer modern amenities like personal lockers, public restrooms and showers, ball fields for recreational activities, volleyball courts and even cabanas. South Shore beach goers like to party. They dance in the clean white sand at Spring Break and spend the summers on party boats, water skis, jet skis, and in some locations, even surf boards. South Shore beaches are all about fun and entertainment. Of course, there are other manual water activities always happening here, like swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. For fun on the beach, there is volleyball, golf, and trails for hiking. You may even find a quiet little hideaway to slip away and capture a romantic moment with that special someone under flawless sunlight, surrounded by the beautiful sights and sounds of watery bliss.

This page provides information about beaches located in the Town of SouthShore. Some of these locations are Town-Run Beaches, while others are NYS Parks - please be sure to check each listing for details before visiting hitting the waves!
